Dr. Esther Ngumbi
Dr. Esther Ngumbi (@EstherNgumbi on twitter) is a Kenyan woman and entomologist, studying chemical use by insects, as well as agriculture and sustainability. Dr. Ngumbi grew up in small village on the Kenyan coast, and witnessed crops ravaged by insects, leading her to study them so as to bring more food security to her family. Being the first woman from her village to earn a PhD, Ngumbi has been a champion of women's education and gender equality, and is an educator, mentor, and speaker who has received many awards.
