Corina Newsome, M.Sc
Corina Newsome, M.Sc (@hood_naturalist), is a black woman who works in avian conservation. Dr. Newsome is currently the Community Engagement Manager at Georgia Audubon. She has publications out on issues facing black people in STEM, as well as a publication on predator-prey in nest flooding. As one of the co-founders of #blackbirdersweek, and having an extensive following on social media, Newsome uses her platform for science communication at the intersection of DEI and conservation.

Juita Martinez
Juita Martinez (@JuitaMartinez) is a black woman and 5th year PhD candidate at the University of Louisiana in environmental and evolutionary biology. Martinez studies brown pelican populations in coastal Louisiana, and is working to aid in conservation efforts. She does work in DEI, and is one the the co-organizers of #blackbirdersweek, a social media intiative formed in the wake of a racist incident in central park against a black birder.
