Dr. Rosie Alegado*
Dr. Rosie Alegado (@algoriphagus on twitter) is a Filipino and Native Hawaiian woman and currently an associate professor at the David K. Inouye Center for Microbial Oceanography, as well as director of the Sea Grant Center of Integrated Knowledge Systems at the University of Hawai'i. Dr. Alegado studies host-microbe interactions, focusing specifically on microbial communities in estuaries.

Dr. Kat Milligan-Mclellan
Dr. Kat Milligan-Mclellan (@Napaaqtuk) is an Inupiaq woman and assistant professor of microbiology at the University of Connecticut, looking specifically at host-microbe interactions. During her time at the University of Oregon as a postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Milligan-Mclellan worked on an initiative to bring more Alaska Natives and Native Americans into STEM.
