Dr. Shayle Matsuda
Dr. Shayle Matsuda (@wrong_whale) is a bi-racial trans man and postdoc researcher working in coral reef conservation and studies. Dr. Matsuda uses his social media platform for science communication, and is an advocate for diversity in STEM. He currently has a project in the works, "exactly the same atoms," which he intends to be a resource for STEM educators working with trans students.

Dr. Ray Allen
Dr. Ray Allen (@ray_l_allen) is a queer Ojibwe man who is currently studying freshwater fish phenology in the face of climate change, and has also done studies in sea urchin ecology. Dr. Allen is also studying the impact of local human relations on Western science practices, and does his work through an indigenous and anti-colonial lens.

Anika Agrawal
Anika Agrawal (@aquaticanika) is a queer Indian woman and first-year PhD student at the University of Connecticut. She is currently studying the effects of toxins on marine populations so as to further conservation efforts, and her past research projects have also had an emphasis on human impact on marine life. Agrawal is also active in racial and environmental outreach and activism, having led an equity-based journal club and organized a protest against anti-blackness in STEM.

Dr. Rosie Alegado*
Dr. Rosie Alegado (@algoriphagus on twitter) is a Filipino and Native Hawaiian woman and currently an associate professor at the David K. Inouye Center for Microbial Oceanography, as well as director of the Sea Grant Center of Integrated Knowledge Systems at the University of Hawai'i. Dr. Alegado studies host-microbe interactions, focusing specifically on microbial communities in estuaries.
