Dr. Karletta Chief

Dr. Karletta Chief (@nativehydro on twitter) is a Diné woman and hydrologist, and is currently an associate professor of environmental science at the University of Arizona. Dr. Chief's areas of study within hydrology are the impacts of fire on watersheds, hydraulic processes in arid soil, and the the impacts of climate change on water resources and indigenous people. She worked with the Navajo Nation and federal agencies in the aftermath of the 2015 Gold King Mine waste water spill to assist in recovery and spreading information.
